Developing Meaningful Days That Build Culture and Recalibrate Rigorous Expectations
Saturday May 3, 2025 10:45am - 11:45am PDT
In this session, attendees will hear first hand from a 900-student LEA how they reinvented their staff professional development to focus on building high-quality relationships with staff with a focus on educational excellence for students. Through intentional work using the Community of Practice model, the LEA built a year-round structure that develops staff as leaders, includes all members of the staff from custodians to administration, teachers and registrars, and puts the focus on students. In the aftermath of both the Camp Fire of 2018 and the pandemic, the school was struggling with staff morale, school culture, and student academics. Knowing something had to change, and quickly, the school reinvented professional development and focused their energy in two areas: 1. high-quality culture and 2. academic excellence. The school is now completing year three of this work and the outcomes are incredible!
