About me
Amy Barker, Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum, Instruction and Accountability, has more than 30 years of experience in teaching and administration. Prior to joining Columbia Elementary School District and the Mountain Valley Education Consortium of Schools, she was the Executive Director of Administrator Support Services for the Shasta County Office of Education, the Director of State and Federal Programs at the Siskiyou County Office of Education, respectively. Before working at the county office level she worked as a principal and a superintendent.
Mrs. Barker’s roles have included working with the 25 consortium districts/charters on state and federal requirements, overseeing the School Leadership Academy (ACSA) and Multi-Tiered System of Support initiative, coaching administrators through ACSA and NorCal ELC, writing grants, overseeing county charter schools, facilitating professional learning opportunities, overseeing the LCSSP and Community Schools grants, overseeing the CTC Teacher Residency capacity grant, providing support for districts with the development and approval of LCAPs, improving the quality of instruction and schools systems through Differentiated Assistance, training Homeless and Foster Youth Liaisons throughout the state, providing statewide LCAP training, facilitating statewide State and Federal Director meetings and Site Council trainings, supporting and empowering administrators, and implementing systems of support for all students.
She has served on many regional and state education committees, including CISC Leadership, Foster Youth TAC grant, CCEE Resource Library, Geo Lead, CCEE Professional Learning Network, Statewide LCAP Leads, Region 2 Regional Assessment Network.
As the Assistant Superintendent, Ms. Barker’s responsibilities include working with nine consortium school districts on compliance, assessment, accountability, and professional development; overseeing State and Federal programs; facilitating the Leading Learning Network of thirty-one, small districts and charter schools in Shasta County; and instituting systems that provide resources, intervention methods, and support to improve student academic performance. Additionally, Ms. Barker is the past State President for the California Administrators State and Federal Education Programs (CAASFEP). She earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Liberal Arts from California State University, Fresno and a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from Colorado Mesa University, Grand Junction. Most importantly, she has a passion for serving rural school districts and charter schools and believes that "we are stronger together".
